Renew Certificate or Licence

Renewing Your Certificate/Licence

Licences and certificates are valid for five years from the date of issue. If you have not had your licence/certificate suspended or cancelled, you can apply for a renewal.

Before your expiry date, you must:

  • Register to write your certificate/licence exam
  • Write and pass the exam (75% or greater)
  • Submit an application for renewal within 365 days of passing the exam and before your certificate/licence expiry date.

Although it is not required, it is highly recommended that you take the required courses again before writing the exam. Remember you have a maximum of 3 opportunities to pass the exam.

It is your responsibility to know the expiry date of your licence/certificate. We recommend that you begin the renewal process at least six months before your licence/certificate expires.

Expired Certificate/Licence

If your certificate/licence has expired, you must apply as a new applicant and meet all of the certificate/licence requirements.  If you have questions, contact us at 1-855-648-1444 or email: mmcdonal@uoguelph.ca.
